# KYC & Identity Verification

### Why does GetRealty request your personal information and documents?

When registering on the GetRealty platform, you complete a one-time KYC (Know Your Customer) process by providing personal information and identity documents. This is essential to meet legal compliance requirements, enhance security, and protect you as an investor.

### This is required for the following reasons:

1. **Legal compliance**\
   GetRealty operates under EU (MiCA) regulations and Cyprus law. We must comply with:
   * Anti-money laundering (AML) laws
   * International financial security and sanctions regulations
2. **Fraud protection**\
   Identity verification helps:
   * Prevent unauthorized access to your account
   * Protect your assets and income rights
   * Ensure only you can control your tokens and receive payouts
3. **Legal recognition of investment rights**\
   The legal ownership of properties remains with GetRealty. By verifying your identity, you secure your rights to:
   * Receive your share of the property’s net rental income and potential capital gains

   * Ensure transparent and accurate revenue distribution
